Christine Reed

Christine Reed, age 86, Hwy. 39, Somerset, passed away at the Hospice Comprehensive Care Center in Richmond, Ky, on February 15, 2009. She was born April 24, 1922 in Somerset, Ky., daughter of Taylor and Exie McGahan also of Somerset, Ky. She graduated from Eubank High School in 1940 and was a long time employee of Palm Beach Clothing Manufacturer in Somerset. Christine married Charles Reed on April 11, 1942, and they were married for 63 years until his death in 2005. She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Reed Ledford of Somerset; son-in-law David Ledford of Somerset; two nieces Sherri Wooton of Richmond, Ky., and Christy Wooton of Berea, Ky. She is also survived by one brother-in-law, Ronnie Wooton of Richmond; one sister-in-law, Eva Mae Schmidt of Ripley, Ohio; a nephew Bob Reed of Miamiville, Ohio; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Taylor and Exie McGahan, Somerset, and one sister, Wanda McGahan Wooton of Richmond, Ky. Christine was a devoted charter member of Bethel Baptist Church, Eubank, Ky. since 1958. She was also an active member of the Somerset O.E.S. Chapter #23, where she was a past Worthy Matron and held other offices as well. She was a past Grand Ester for Kentucky Grand Chapter during 1970-1971. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 19, at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Phillip Fisher officiating. Following the funeral, burial will be in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens of Somerset. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 18, at the Pulaski Funeral Home between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. At 7 p.m. there will be an O.E.S., service given by Somerset Chapter #23. Christine was a loving mother and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Pulaski Funeral Home is entrusted with all funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethel Baptist Church building fund, or Hospice Comprehensive Care Center in Richmond, Ky.
