Mr. Michael Ray Rogers, age 63 of Somerset, son of the late Perill J. and Joan (Franklin) Rogers was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 3, 1952 and departed this life on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.
Michael is survived by his sister; Beverly (and Gordon) Stringer of Somerset, Kentucky, a special friend; Rebecca Sears and her children; Payton and Aleah Sears who he loved as if they were his own children. He also leaves behind one niece; Cara Stringer of Louisville, Kentucky and one nephew; Shay Stringer of Somerset, Kentucky and a host of friends who all mourn his passing.
Michael had a Bachelor’s degree in History and English and a Master’s degree in Administration, he started his teaching career at Woodstock Elementary, then continued teaching at Pulaski County High School and retired as the Director of Student Services for the Pulaski County School System. Michael had a love for the lake and enjoyed spending his time on his houseboat along with fishing on his Pontoon. He enjoyed painting, music, history and his antiques booth in the Antique Mall. He was a very loving and kind person and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. David Pendley officiating. Burial will follow in the Wesley’s Chapel Cemetery.
The family of Michael Ray Rogers will receive friends on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 after 5 p.m. at Pulaski Funeral Home.
