Robert Mckinley Massengale was born on April 2,1937 in Stearns, Kentucky and went home to be with his Lord on January 28, 2009. He was the son of the late Shelby Gene and Alta Martin Massengale. He was preceded in death by sisters; Irene and Jean and brother; Bill.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne Sherman Massengale. His greatest joy in life were his children; Robin (and Mike) Dykes and Stephanie Gumm; and his grandchildren; Holly (and Larry) Mounce, Dakota and Sydney Gumm, Taylor Richardson and Logan Dykes; and his great-grandchildren; Catie and Ella Mounce. Robert is also survived by a sister Jane and a brother Jim, and special friends Shelby and Darlene Pennington as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bob was retired from the Kentucky Department of Human Resources, Social Services. He grew up in High Street Baptist Church and later became a member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church. He was active in starting Big Brothers and Big Sisters in Pulaski County. He was a board member of Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Bethany House and Pulaski County Extension Council and Regional Extension Council. Bob was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel and a Count of Pulaski County and was a member of many more organizations.
Funeral services for Mr. Massengale will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 11:00a.m., in the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Sam Adkins and Bro. Grant Hardwick officiating.
The family of Bob Massengale will receive friends on Friday, January 30, 2009 after 5p.m. in the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Science Hill Cemetery.
