Joe A. Parks

March 6, 1939 — January 24, 2009

Mr. Joe A. Parks, son of the late Philip and Louise McChesney Parks, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 06th, 1939, and he departed this life on the Sabbath day, January 24, 2009 having attained the age of 69 years. He was united in marriage to Janice Riffle Parks in 1981, she survives. Other survivors include, two sons, Jeffrey A. Parks of Middletown, OH and Joe A. (and Renee) Parks of Springboro, OH; three daughters, Katherine J. (and Jeffrey V.) Atherton, Kelly J. (and Matthew) Cecil and Kimberly J. (and john) Wheaton all of Dayton, OH; and their mother, Barbara Parks also of Dayton, OH; two step-children, Douglas Frock of Florence, SC and Richard Frock of Dayton, OH; one sister-in-law, Sue A. Parks; one brother-in-law, Ronald (and Janet) Riffle; three aunts; Ellen Kattine, Marie McChesney, and Marie Parks; 18 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who also mourn his passing. He also leaves behind his best friend; his bulldog, “Murphy”. Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by; one brother, Jerry C. Parks, and one grandson, Aaron B. Atherton. Joe was a graduate of Mt. Vernon Academy of Mt. Vernon, OH, he was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and he was proud to be a leader in his profession as a Master Plumber. His family looks forward to the second coming of Christ where they then can be reunited. He will truly be missed by all and…..as Joe would say “WHO-DEY!” Funeral services will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Centerville, OH at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 29th, 2009 with burial to follow in the Woodland Cemetery. The family of Mr. Joe A. Parks will receive friends at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Bourbon Road in Somerset, Kentucky on Monday, January 26, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. And at the Routsong Funeral Home of Kettering, OH from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2009. Pulaski Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements in Somerset, Kentucky and Routsong Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements for Mr. Joe Parks in Dayton, Ohio
