Ollie "Cecil" Merritt

Mr. Ollie “Cecil” Merritt, son of the late Olvin and Mary Merritt, was born at Poplarville, Kentucky on December 11, 1931 and he departed this life on June 2, 2015 having attained the age of 83 years. She was united in marriage to Mrs. Ruby “Juanita”Goff Merritt, she preceded him in death. He is survived by a host of nieces and nephews who mourn his passing. Other than his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ray (and Vivian) Merritt, Lee (Ruth) Merritt, and Jesse “J.D.” (and Genvia) Merritt and one sister, Fay (Oddis) Thompson. Cecil was a Pulaski County native. He worked in the Log Woods for several years and was a very experienced logger. He was also a farmer a very devoted husband and a school bus driver. “Cecil” was a kind person who will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Merritt Family Cemetery at Poplarville. The family of Mr. Ollie “Cecil” Merritt will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2015.
