Boyd Charles Prather, age 84, of Bronston, KY went home to be with his Lord on Friday, May 22, 2015 at his home in Bronston, Kentucky.
He was born in Shepola, Kentucky to Winfred and Clara Philips Prather and lived most of his life in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
Boyd was a Marine during the Korean War, a Mason, a retired state employee, a lifelong farmer, and a special friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Dean Bertram, a sister, Georgia Keeney and her husband, Huleon and a brother, Marion Prather.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty New Prather, his four daughters; Sherry (and Tim) Morrow of Bronston, Charlotte (and Paul) Flynn of North Branch, Michigan, Clara Ann Prather of Bronston, and Wendy Bertram of Monticello. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; Sara (and John) Geitman, Ryan David (and Lora Anne) Morrow, Paul (and Sarah) Flynn Jr., Charles Aaron (and Lindsay) Flynn, Shaundrea (and Chris) Sims, Shane (and Leah) Bertram, and Samuel Bertram. Thirteen great-grandchildren; Livia, Lola, Ella, and Elizabeth Flynn, Logan and Ava Grace Geitman, Holden Morrow, Mason, Megan, and Jaxon Sims, and Hailey, Kenzie, and Ty Bertram. Also survived by three brothers; Earl (and Elvie) Prather of Somerset, David (and Jewell) Prather of Bronston, and Dean (and Charlotte) Prather of Somerset, and one sister; Barbara Sue (and Roy) Moyer of Spartinburg, South Carolina.He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Mr. Prather greatly enjoyed farming, cattle, and spending time with his friends.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 25, 2015 with Bro. Dan Brummett officiating. Burial will follow in the Prather Cemetery. Mr. Prather’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 25, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until time for services at the Pulaski Funeral Home.
