Corene Jones-Poynter passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Otis & Martha Price. Born on May 11, 1935 in the Sandy Gap community in Pulaski Co. Corene retired from Oakwood Training Center after 13 years of service. Corene loved her home where she had lived since December 1967. She enjoyed her family, loved to go shopping. She married Chester Jones on March 12, 1959. They raised two boys, Benny Price of Somerset and Stephen Dykes of Shopville. Chet passed away July 31, 1981. Corene married Roy Bur Poynter on October 18, 1989. They had 19 good years when he passed away March 15, 2008. Corene was also preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Price of Eubank; two sisters, Emmaphine Burdine of Somerset and Shirleen Whitaker, and her son Jack Whitaker of Cincinnati. Also a beloved brother-in-law Ron Whitaker; and her little toy poodle, Rusty. She is survived by one sister, Evellene Godbey of Stanford, a foster brother, Norman Price of Price Valley Rd, and his son James. A dear friend of 55 years, Ethel Jones; two special nieces, Janet Albright and Lisa Hood. A real good buddy Sam Dykes, a special nephew, Rick Whitaker, and his wife Julie of Cincinnati. A granddaughter, Pam Runyan of Somerset, and two great-grandsons that were the light of her life Cody and Nick Runyan of Somerset. A special step-daughter Melissa Phelps, a cousin like a sister, Lela Whitaker. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Pulaski Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, by her husband Roy Bur Poynter. Visitation for Mrs. Corene Jones-Poynter will be after 5 PM, Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Pulaski Funeral Home.
