Mrs. Maxine McPheron, daughter of the late Jason and Jane Williams Hall, was born in Somerset, KY on March 30, 1922 and she departed this life on April 21, 2015 having attained the age of 93 years.
She was united in marriage to Mr. Ralph “Red” McPheron. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2014 after 72 years of marriage.
Survivors include; two children, Jason (and Charlotte) McPheron of Somerset, KY and Ginger McPheron (and Larry Sears) of Somerset, KY; two grandchildren, April (and Dr. Natarajan) Thannoli and Joe (and Sarah Giles) McPheron all of Somerset, KY; six great grandchildren, Jacob, Nikas, Rylan, Ridge, Hayley, and Jayden; three brothers, Gus (and Myra) Hall, Dave Hall and D.B. (and Sue) Hall and a host of other relatives.
Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ada June Hall, and Ida Bishop; one brother, Glenn Hall; two sisters-in-law; Gertrude Hall, and Jeannie Hall; and one-brother-in-law, Earl Bishop.
Maxine was a longtime member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she served in many capacities including singing in the church choir and teaching Sunday school for more than 50 years. The church was her life. She was also a teacher in both the Somerset and Pulaski County School districts for more than 38 years and afterward she was a substitute teacher for more than 20 years. She was also a longstanding member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was involved with civic organizations such as Somerset Womens Club, the Retired Teachers Association, and she volunteered for the Senior friends at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for several years before her health started to fail her.
Maxine was a very strong and independent woman who loved her family and friends very much. She was a kind Christian lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Maxine McPheron will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Hines officiating. Burial will follow in the Somerset Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Maxine McPheron will receive friends at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2015 until time for services.
In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan or the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
