Mr. Leo W. Gilliland of Leo Gilliland Road, Somerset, KY, son of the late Jack and Ina Sears Gilliland was born on March 5, 1914 in the Mark Community and passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY having attained the age of 94 years. Mr. Gilliland was a retired Farmer and Livestock Dealer and a member of the Pleasant Run Baptist Church. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Ella Curtis Mize on March 17, 1933 in Somerset, KY and they remained united in marriage for 75 years until her passing on September 13, 2008. Mr. Gilliland is survived by three children; Wilson J. (and Delana) Gilliland of Louisville, KY., Joyce Fern (and Bobby) Snell of Bellbrook, OH, and Jackie L. (and Fayrene P.) Gilliland, of Somerset, KY. He also leaves behind six grandchildren; Ricky L. (and Gayle) Snell of Miamisburg, OH., David J. (and Dee) Gilliland of New Albany, IN., Timothy L.(and Julie) Gilliland of Fort Worth, TX., Janice G. Walthall of New Albany, IN., Pamela G. (and Ronald) Ebling of Somerset, KY., Jacinda G. (and Timothy) Foster of Belmont, NC., and nine great-grandchildren; Scott Matthew Snell of Germantown, OH., Ryan Timothy Snell of Miamisburg, OH., Megan (and Alex) Thompson of Panama City, FL., Lindsay E. Walthall, Jeffrey A. Walthall and Tyler Gilliland all of New Albany, IN., Alexandra Gilliland of Fort Worth, TX., Jake Gilliland Foster of Belmont N.C., and Shelby Nicole Ebling of Somerset, KY., and two great-great grandchildren; Makenzi Jade Walthall and Gabriella Faith Walthall both of New Albany, IN. One sister; Betty Jo (and Allen) Moody of Kingman, IN; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Gilliland of Williamsport, IN; two nephews, Derrell Gilliland of Kingman, IN and Dr. Dennis Whitford of Mt. Pleasant, MI; two nieces, Vicki G. Lord of West Lafayette, IN and Christi W. Millikan of Williamsport, IN and a very special friend and caregiver, Sandy Poynter. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Barnett and Rev. Donald McKinney officiating. Burial will be held in the Somerset Cemetery. The Family of Mr. Gilliland will receive friends on Friday, December 26, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Pulaski Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers the family of Mr. Leo Gilliland requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan or the Pleasant Run Baptist Church Building Fund. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of all arrangements for Mr. Leo W. Gilliland.
