Oliver Gene Lawless

Oliver Gene Lawless, age 75, son of the late Rev. O.D. and Stella Mae (Chadwell) Lawless was born in Rossville, Illinois on February 20, 1933 and departed this life on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at his residence in Somerset, Kentucky in the presence of his family. Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years Joan Cole Lawless, one son; Jeffrey Scott and Melanie Lawless of Somerset, KY., one grandson; Calder Lawless, two sisters; Inez Fagala of McAllen, TX, and Sandra Frost of Columbia, KY. Besides his parents Mr. Lawless is predeceased by one daughter; Deborah Jo. Lawless, and three sisters; Marie Cook, Christine Ricks Jacobs, and Aline Huddleston. Mr. Lawless worked as an educator with the Pulaski County School System for 27 years, and was a graduate of Columbia High School and Eastern Kentucky University. Gene was also a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korea Conflict. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 12, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Sam Crawford officiating. The family of Mr. Lawless will receive friends on Thursday, December 11, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home. Burial will be held in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland and/or to the Beacon Hill Baptist Church Building Fund.
