Betty J. Harris, daughter of the late Lucinda and James W. Meece, was born in Somerset, Kentucky on June 4th, 1930 and she departed this life on February 9, 2015 in Somerset, Kentucky having attained the age of 84 years.
She was united in marriage to Mr. Berwin Tarter Harris on September 16, 1948 in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, he preceded her in death.
Survivors include; four children, Marshel Wayne Harris of Somerset, Kentucky, Vickie (and Donovan) Smith of Somerset, Kentucky, Karen (and Eddie) Hall of Somerset, Kentucky, and Brenda Harris of Nicholasville, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, Donovan (and Robin) Smith, Jr of Somerset, Kentucky, Matt (and Shonda) Smith of Lexington, Kentucky, Julie (and Brad) Stevens of Somerset, Kentucky, Chris (and Sandra) Hall of Louisville, Kentucky, Tony (and Renita) Hall of Somerset, Kentucky, Nathan (and Mallory) Hall of Somerset, Kentucky, Tanya Stevens of Frankfort, Kentucky, Tiffany Harris of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Josh Harris of Louisville, KY; a special nephew, Jim (and Chris) Meece of El Paso, Texas; a special great nephew, Brendan Meece of El Paso, Texas; the following great grandchildren, Mackenzie & Morgan Smith, Todd, Emily & Mahala Hall, Noah & Luke Stevens, Emie Jo & Cole Smith, Gabriella & Alessia Hall and Josh York and a very special companion of more than forty seven years, Billy Meece.
Other than her parents, and husband, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, James, and Buddy Meece and a brother that died in infancy, and six sisters, Zona Meece, Rebecca Keeney, Odetta Bibee, Viola Bullock, Mary Mitchell and a sister that died in infancy.
Betty was a retired sales clerk from Paul’s Discount, and a volunteer at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and was also a member of the Barnesburg Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a kind lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew her and she leaves a vast host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2015 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. David Bullock officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnesburg Cemetery.
