Thelma Mae Meece Tucker, 102, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Somerset Nursing and Rehab.
She was born on August 16, 1912 to the late Edgar and Stella Catron Meece.
Thelma graduated from Somerset High School in 1932. She later married Harry Franklin Tucker of Somerset. He was employed with Southern Railway and worked at our local depot as a clerk for many years.
Harry and Thelma had one child Sue Ann Tucker, born in 1937.
The couple built their little dream home on Bennelli Ave in the 1950's and resided there until Thelma and Sue moved to The Highlands Place in the year 2000. Harry passed several years prior to that.
Thelma was a seamstress and worked out of her home for several years.
She was a long time member of First Baptist Church, where she and Sue attended every Sunday as long as her health permitted.
Thelma has been at Somerset Rehab for six years, while Sue continues to live at The Highlands Place and attends Somerset Active Day.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Sue Ann; a sister, Marcella Human of Jacksonville, Florida; and a sister-in-law, Eula Meece; several nieces and nephews survive, Gene & (Marylynn) Hurt, Jana Meece Coode of Nashville, TN, Gerry Meece & (John) Musterman, Pam Human of Jacksonville, FL, Pat Mills of OH, and Dickie Mills.
Thelma also leaves behind a host of cousins, and great nieces and nephews.
She had many wonderful neighbors during her many years on Bennelli Ave., such as the Eastham's, Barnett's, Caplins, Logdson's. Carter's, Whitaker's, Hawkin's, Ikred's, Coffman's, Routen's, and Rice's.
Virginia Hawkins & Luretha Cross were special to Thelma; Luretha has since passed. Doris Rice and Larry Brinson, as well as their families have been caregivers to Thelma and Sue for several years.
Preceding Thelma in death were her parents; brother, Delbert "Tobe" Meece, Charles "Pig" Meece; sister's, Edna Mae Meece Hurt, Opal Meece Rains, and Irene Meece Mills.
A funeral service will be held at 3 PM Monday, January 19, 2015 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Altman.
Burial will follow in Somerset Cemetery.
Visitation for Mrs. Thelma Mae Meece Tucker will be after 1 PM Monday, January 19, 2015 at Pulaski Funeral Home.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan.
