Eunice “Lovie” Groce, age 94, of Burnside, Kentucky departed this life on November 5, 2008 at her residence.
She was born on December 27, 1913, the daughter of Robert Love Abston and Mary Eunice Smith Abston in Burkesville, KY., who preceded her in death. She was the matriarch of her family and lived her life daily for the Lord. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burnside for over 50 years and active in WMU, Acteens, GA’s, and taught the 4-year old Sunday school class for over 45 years until health prevented her from continuing. Up to the time of her passing, she served as the church custodian.
Lovie is survived by her daughter; Mary Elizabeth Rowe of Somerset, KY.; eight grandchildren David (Pam) Rowe of St. Louis, MO., Paula Kay (Tim) Lyles, Scottsville, KY, Tracy Lynn (Timothy) Sharp, Knoxville, TN, Michele (Michael) Stricker, Austin, TX, Paulette Large, Randy (Mechele), Rowe, Michael (Dot) Rowe, and Gary (Kristi) Rowe, Somerset, KY., eighteen great-grandchildren; Ryan Chapin, Jordan Rowe, Dylan Rowe, Savanna Rowe, Jared Smith, Kaitlyn Large, Caleb Rowe, Michaela Rowe, Brittney Rowe, Charity Rowe, Zackery Rowe, Morgann Rowe, Courtney Stricker, Colin Stricker, Allison Stricker, Jessica James, Joshua McNeese, and Jackson Sharpe, two great-great-grandchildren; Kaylynn Lyles and Conner James, three sisters; Beatrice Hayes, Thousand Oaks, CA., Martha Quick of Indiana, Dorothy Glidewell, Burkesville, KY., two brothers; Howard and Hall Abston, Burkesville, KY., and a special friend Darlene Sullivan, Burnside, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul Love Groce, whom she married March 1, 1933 in Burkesville, KY., a son, Robert Lewis Groce, two sisters; Laura Abston Arms and Sally Margaret Abston, and one brother, Robert Pratt Abston.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Burnside, KY., with Bro. Albert McKinney, and Bro. Richard Christian officiating. Burial will follow in the Burnside Cemetery.
The family of Lovie Grace will receive friends on Friday, November 7, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. in the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home and on Saturday after 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the First Baptist Church in Burnside.
