Mrs. Sylvia Haynes McDowell, 75, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away Monday, December 8, 2014 at Abbotts Creek Care and Rehabilitation Center in Lexington, NC.
Sylvia was born on April 10, 1939 in Alpine, Kentucky to the late Cheerful & Ruby Hoff Haynes. She was a member of Broadbay Hills Baptist Church and was retired from McDonalds after 39 years of service.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Weldon McDowell; two sisters, Joan Decker and Joyce Ann Shelton; and a brother, Guy Lee Haynes.
Surviving to cherish her memory are three children; Skip McDowell and wife, Maymui of Atlanta, Ga., Ric McDowell and wife, Teresa of Winston-Salem, Nc., and Lisa Wike and husband, Todd of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Travis, Jordan, Maggie, and Nick; three great-grandchildren, Bryson, Keegan, and Hadley; four brothers, Bobby Haynes, Jacky Haynes, Jerry Haynes, and Terry Haynes; and two sisters, Jill Cole and Sharon Laswell.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Neeley’s Creek Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Neeley’s Creek Cemetery in Alpine, Kentucky.
Visitation for Mrs. Sylvia Haynes McDowell will be from 6 PM to 9 PM Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Pulaski Funeral Home.
