Allene Shearer Ramsey

Allene Shearer Ramsey died December 3, 2014 in Danville, Kentucky. A native of Wayne County, Allene was born in Bethesda, Kentucky on September 22, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Allen and LaDonna Shearer. She was the widow of Barton L. Ramsey, Jr. a Somerset physician. Mrs. Ramsey lived In Somerset for 64 years, she was a member of the First Christian Church of Somerset, a 50 year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a life member of the Somerset Garden Club, a member of Somerset Chautauqua, as well as a member of the Pulaski Homemakers. She traveled around the world with her friends and shared her needle working talents with her friends and family. Mrs. Ramsey is survived by her son, Dr. Barton L. Ramsey, III and his wife Allison Sanders Ramsey of Danville, Kentucky; her daughter, Rosetta Ramsey Rush and husband Dr. Willett H. Rush, Jr. of Frankfort; grandchildren, Hillary Ramsey Dabney and husband Brian Dabney; James Barton Ramsey and wife Rebecca Cripps Ramsey; Elizabeth “Fizzy” Ramsey, Allen Shearer Ramsey, Willett H. Rush, III, and Jane Brock Rush, Katherine Rush Hill and husband James Madison Hill, V; Five great grandchildren, Elizabeth McKay Rush, Willett Howard Rush IV, James Barton Dabney, Claudia Allison Dabney and Sarah Rosetta Hill. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Long term friend, Carolyn Ping. In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the First Christian Church of Somerset, 1115 Hwy 39, Somerset, Kentucky 42503. Funeral services will be held at the Somerset First Christian Church at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2014. The family will receive friends at the First Christian Church on Monday, December 8, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until time for services at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Elk Springs Cemetery in Monticello, Kentucky at 3:00 p.m. Monday.
