Gerald Meece, 71, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on February 7, 1943 in Colo, Kentucky; son of the late Tony and Alice Phelps Meece. He was a Retired Chief of Police. He spent 40 years in Law Enforcement serving in various towns in Kentucky and Alaska. He had his private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying. He loved Southern Gospel Music,working on his old cars, fishing and traveling with his family. He particularly enjoyed traveling out west; especially Alaska. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a member of Community Harvest Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Saylor Meece; two sons, Jamie Meece and Jeremy & (Lori) Meece both of Somerset, Kentucky; two daughters, Sandra Meece Smith of Florence, Kentucky, and Alisa & (Josh) Norfleet of Somerset, Kentucky; three sisters, Jean Metz, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Margie Haynes of Hamilton, Ohio, and Helen & (Ronald) Ping of Somerset, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Ashley Smith, Mitchell Smith, Hayden Norfleet, and Addison Norfleet.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruby Hail.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Monday, October 20, 2014 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Perkins officiating.
Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery.
Visitation for Mr. Gerald Meece will be after 6 PM Sunday, October 18, 2014 at Pulaski Funeral Home.
