Nellie Meece

Nellie Meece, age 95 years and one month passed away Tuesday, October 14th, 2014 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center. She was born on August 13th, 1919 in the Dykes Community to William and Lucy Bolton Whitis. She was the last surviving member of the family. She was pre-deceased by 7 sisters and one brother. She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Providence Baptist Church. Her husband Virgil Meece whom she wed on December 9th, 1936 preceded her in death on August 24th, 1991 after 55 years of marriage. She leaves behind to cherish her memories her daughter Juanita Meece Whitis of Somerset and a son Leo Meece also of Somerset, 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several sets of 5th generation great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Joyce Meece Hargis, and Betty Jewel Marie Whitis, and two son in-laws, Orville Hargis and Bruce Whitis. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17th, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Pulaski Funeral Home with services at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Dalous Sears officiating. Burial will be in the Providence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Providence Cemetery fund. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of all arrangements.
