Mr. Charles Hail, son of the late Charles L. and Helen Phelps Hail, was born in Somerset, KY on May 18, 1931 and he departed this life on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in Lexington, KY having attained the age of 83 years.
On April 12, 1952 he was united in marriage to Lerleen Hunt, she survives. Other survivors include; two sons, Eddie Hail of Somerset, KY and Steve Hail of Georgetown, KY; three grandchildren, Amber Hail, Jared (and Katie) Hail Burkett, and Branden Hail; two great grandchildren, Jaycee Hail and Chase Allen Burkett; three brothers, Bert E. (and Rita) Hail, Walter D. (and Carolyn) Hail, and Terry Hail; and two sisters, Connie Hail Merrick, and Edith Hail Baugh.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by; one son, David Wayne Hail who died in infancy, and six brothers, Rev. Mark Hail, Elbert Morris Hail, Eugene, Charles D., James, and Ray Lee Hail.
Charles was a member of the East Somerset Baptist Church where he served as an honorary deacon; he worked for many years for Rainbow Bread, and in later years was co-owner with his son, Eddie, of the Nelson Valley Grocery. He enjoyed watching the U. K. Wildcats and was also a big fan of the Cincinnati Reds. However, he enjoyed being around his family the most. His wife, sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the most important people in his life. He was a kind person who will be missed by all who knew him and he leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the East Somerset Baptist Church with Rev. Darvie Fenison officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
The family of Mr. Charles Hail will receive friends at the East Somerset Baptist Church after 6:00 p.m. Friday.
