Parrice E. Johnson, 76, of Topeka, Kansas formerly of Berea, Kentucky, died Wednesday, January 4th, 2006, at the Colmery-O'Neal Veterans Medical Center of Topeka, Kansas. He was a local contractor.
Parrice was born on February 21, 1929 in Berea, Kentucky and was the son of the late Stanley and Jessie Gladys Johnson. Parrice served in the U.S. Army, assigned to the 82nd Airborne for 4 and one half years. After discharge and a short residence in Columbus, Georgia, he returned to Berea and enrolled in Eastern Kentucky University in the College of Industrial Arts. While a student at Eastern, he became a member of the Madison County Fiscal Court having been elected as the Justice of the Peace for the Sixth Magisterial District for Southern Madison County including the city of Berea.
Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by; one brother, John William "Bobby" Johnson. He is survived by; the dearest of friends, Kathy and Hal DeHart and thier families in Topeka, Kansas; one daughter, Leslie (and Tupper) Hardman of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; one son, John (and Chirine) Johnson of Sylva, North Carolina; two brothers, his twin, Lloyd Preston (and Margaret) Johnson of Somerset, Kentucky and Fred L. (and Betty) Johnson of Lexington, Kentucky; and five grandchildren.
Graveside Services at Mill Springs National Cemetery, Nancy, Kentucky, at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 9th, with Rev. C. E. Hansford officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 09, 2006 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home
Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 38, In leiu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Local Hospice of ones choice. (Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 108 College Street, Somerset, KY 42501) All funeral arrangements are entrusted to Pulaski Funeral Home.
