Fayrene "Fay" Hargis

Fayrene “Fay” Hargis entered this life on May 3, 1934 in Dykes, Kentucky. She passed away on August 31, 2014 in the presence of her family at the Jean Waddle Care Center at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY. Born to the late Gifford and Mary Sears Phelps, Fay enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, working in her numerous flower beds and going to yard sales. A former seamstress at Palm Beach Company, she retired after 42 years of service. She was a member of White Lily Baptist Church. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 59 years, Howard C. Hargis, her daughter Debbie (and Earl) Gibson of Science Hill, KY, grandson Tyler Gibson of Somerset, KY, granddaughter Autumn Gibson of Louisville, KY, sisters Ruth (and Bud) Burchfield of Cincinnati, OH and Faustine (and Jimmy) Burton of Somerset, KY, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Kenneth and Audrey Hargis of Somerset, KY, sister-in-law Beverly Burton of Somerset, KY and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister Edna May Phelps, a brother Ivan Phelps, a sister and brother-in-law Ola B. and Freddie Hargis, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Orville and Joyce Hargis and a brother-in-law Lowell D. Burton. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home on Thursday, September 4th at 11 a.m. with Bro. Ernest Warren and Bro. Daniel Woodcock officiating. Burial will directly follow in the White Lily Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Fayrene Hargis will receive friends on Wednesday, September 3rd from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the White Lily Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be handling all arrangements for Mrs. Fayrene Hargis.
