Claudie E. "Bud" Ricks, age 71, passed away at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital on Friday, September 05, 2008, following a lenthgy Illness. Bud was born on February 6, 1937, in Trigg County, Kentucky, to the late Cletus Earl and Irene Stagner Ricks.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, martha Cannon Ricks; two sons, and daughters-in-law, Anthony "Tony' and Jeana Roy Ricks; Jerry Alan and Ronda Smith Ricks, all of Somerset; five grandchildren, Justin Alan, Jacob hamilton, Brooklyn Jade, Torri Noel and Allison Faith Ricks. Other survivors are his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Jean and Norris Futrell; sister-in-law, Loucretia Ricks; brother-in-law, Jerry "Bud" Cannon all of Trigg County. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Mitzi and Greg McNichols, Stacy and Janay Futrell, Emily and Michael Fitzsimmons, all of Cadiz; Neil and Sherry Gibbs of Louisville; Dwayne Gibbs and April and Eli Drennan, Nashville. Uncle Delbert and Aunt Ronella Stagner; Cadiz, and Aunt Myrtle "Doots" Ricks, Calvert City. Also surviving are several great nephews and nieces and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Ricks, on March 27, 2008.
Bud was a faithful member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church for 26 years-previously a member and deacon of New Hope Baptist Church, Trigg County, KY. He was a member of the Somerset Masonic Lodge No. 111. He was a self employed master plumber and electrician. He served is country proudly in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Division, as a paratrooper. He will be greatly missed as he brought joy to all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2008 at the Oak Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Harold Brown Officiating. Visitation will be observed at the church from 2:00 p.m. Sunday until time for services. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Ricks, Jacob Ricks, Stacy Futrell, Mike Dills, Mark Sloan, Joe Cummins, and Scott Spahr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Bethel Class of Oak Hill Baptist Church.
In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Oak Hill Baptist Church Building Fund or Manna Program.
