Mrs. Joyce Dean Hargis, 75, of Somerset passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at her residence. She was born August 28, 1938 at Dykes, Kentucky, daughter of Nellie Meece and the late Virgil Meece. She was a retired Roses Department Store employee. She married the love of her life Orville Hargis on September 27, 1958, he preceded her in death on June 16, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her father and a sister; Betty Whitis. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her mother, two daughters; Sandra Current and Denise Hargis, three grandsons; Christopher (and Natalie) Downs, Alexander Current and Eli Current, one great-granddaughter; Chole Downs, one brother; Virgil Leo Meece, one sister; Juanita Whitis and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews who all mourn her passing. Joyce was a lifelong member of Providence Baptist Church, holding several positions in the church, but her most treasured position was the Sunday School Teacher of the small children’s class. She was also a member of the Pulaski County Historical Society and her love for genealogy connected her with family members across the United States. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Dalous Sears officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. The family of Mrs. Joyce Dean Hargis will receive friends on Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at the Pulaski Funeral Home. If you desire, expressions of sympathy can take the form of donations to the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or the White Lily Cemetery Fund. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be handling all arrangements for Mrs. Joyce Dean Hargis.
