Arlie Branscum

Arlie Otis Branscum, 95, of Oak Hill Road, Somerset passed away Saturday August 23, 2008 at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Somerset. He was born in Wayne County on Oct. 2, 1912 , the son of the late Charlie E. and Florence Keith Branscum. He was the last surviving child of his parents. He moved to Somerset in 1969 and was a retired employee of the Palm Beach Co. and later worked for the Pulaski Co. Board Of Education. He was a faithful member of Oak Hill Baptist Church as long as health permitted. He had served as a Sunday School teacher and Deacon at Oak Hill for several years. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Eva Morrow Branscum whom he married on Nov. 3, 1938 in Wayne County. Also surviving are one daughter Annita Roberts of Wayne County and three sons, Lewie ( and Jeanette ) Branscum of Greenwood, Indiana; Larry Branscum of Springfield, Ohio and Allen ( and Emily ) of Somerset. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Ken Roberts, Diane Bratten, Tammy Gordon, Mary Wynn, Stephanie and Steven Branscum, Cindy Cohee and great-grandchildren: Emily and Madeline Gordon, Danielle Webster and Amanda Davis. Other than his parents he was preceeded in death by six brothers: Herbert, Carlos, Edgar, Oval, Cleo and Delbert, three sisters: Gertie Kidd, Luttie Correll and Mae Correll and one son in law, Frank Roberts. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Oak Hill Baptist Church Building Fund or Pulaski County Alzheimers Center. Funeral services will be held at the Oak Hill Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2008 with Dr. Harold Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. The family of Mr. Arlie Branscum will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home after 6:00 p.m. Monday and at the Church after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday until after services. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of the final arrangements of Mr. Arlie Branscum
