Mardena Lee Wilson Salyers age 78 of Lexington, KY (Formerly of Somerset and Liberty, KY) passed away at her home on July 3, 2014. She was born on October 29, 1935 in Casey County, KY to the late Lucian and Odella Rigney Wilson.
She was a member of the Westside Christian Church and retired after 25 years of service as a sales associate with Belk. She loved shopping, fishing, spending time with family and friends and listening to bluegrass and gospel music.
Mardena is preceded in death by her husband, Berkley D. Salyers; her sister, Almeda Wilson Francis; her brothers, Bill and Bobby Terrill Wilson and grandson, Ryan Lee Tucker.
Survivors include a sister, Juanita Francis and husband Ronald, Fairfield, OH; a brother, Joe Clay (J.C.) Wilson and wife Joan, Cincinnati, OH; a sister-in-law, Gladys Fletcher Wilson, Fairfield, OH. Three children, Kevin Salyers and spouse Lannie, Lexington, KY; daughters, Sharon Salyers Gray, Hayward, WI and Rhonda Salyers Fitzpatrick. Three grandchildren, Allison Goode Stevens, Lexington, KY; Lori Goode Dick and husband Rodney, Science Hill, and Charles (Chip) Michael Tucker, Indianapolis, IN. Two great-grandchildren, Makenzie and Hayden Dick, Science Hill, KY. Six grand-dogs, Sam, Lola, Max, Josie, Levi, Benny & Tyler. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at the Pulaski Funeral Home, Somerset, KY on July 9, 2014, from from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. The Celebration of Mardena’s Life will be held at 7:00 P.M. at the Pulaski Funeral Home.
The graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 10th at 10:00 A.M. in the Salyers’ Cemetery, Mt. Olive, KY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Lupus Foundation and the Lexington Humane Society.
