Marnella Rose (Avera) McWilliams

Marnella Rose (Avera) McWilliams, departed this life for her heavenly home on June 28, 2014 in the presence of her devoted family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on December 7, 1954 to Rev. Harlan J. Avera Sr. and Revetta Rose (Helton) Avera. Marnella was united in marriage to the love of her life, William “Michael” McWilliams on October 15, 1971. Together they had two children, Christopher Michael & (Shannon) and Shawna Gail Campbell. She operated an in home daycare for over 20 years before accepting a teaching position at Little Shepherd’s Daycare in London, KY. Marnella most enjoyed family and especially her grandchildren. She was a UK and Somerset fan. She loved her flowers, especially roses. She was a member of Langdon Street Baptist Church, where she made her profession of faith at age 11. She was an Awana and nursery worker. Marnella was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Harlan J. Avera Sr., whom she loved dearly. Survivors include her mother, Revetta “Betty” Avera and two children, Chris and Shawna. Also surviving are the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Brayden and Brycen McWilliams and Kelsey and Trey Campbell and Ava Ritchea. Surviving are two brothers, Harlan J. Avera Jr. & (Marilyn) and Johnny & (Tara) Avera along with many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Marnella had an unwavering faith in God, even throughout her cancer treatments. She will be missed by her family, church family and friends. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Chandler and Bro. James Floyd officiating. Burial will be in Somerset Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 PM Monday, June 30, 2014 at Pulaski Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Langdon Street Baptist Church Building Fund, Hospice of Lake Cumberland or The Gideon Memorial Bible Fund. Pulaski Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Marnella Rose McWilliams.
