Frances Jaffe Goldenberg "Frankie" passed away June 23rd at the age of ninety one.
She was born and raised in Osceola, Arkansas, the daughter of Ann Springer and E.M. Jaffe.
She is predeceased by her husband, Jack Goldenberg who passed away on May 19th, 2014 soon after celebrating their seventieth wedding anniversary.
Frankie is survived by: her son, Glen Jaffe Goldenberg (Terri Vanhook); her daughter, Jan G. Fischer (Steve); grandchildren, Dr. Julie Fischer (Mark Lacy), Jeremy Fischer (Gail Hurt), Rev. Jaimes Goldenberg (Sandra Forrester), Grant Goldenberg (Jennifer Mason), Jordan, Marc, and Jon Goldenberg, and the following great grandchildren: Emma and Mira Lacy, Levi, Jude, and Anna Grace Goldenberg, and Ian and Katie Goldenberg.
After attending Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, Frankie moved to Somerset and married Jack Goldenberg.
Later she joined the family business; Goldenberg Furniture, and along with her husband grew it to be the largest furniture store between Lexington and Knoxville.
In addition to her marketing skills, she developed the interior design department at Goldenbergs, the first of its kind in the region.
Frankie was active in the support of many local charities. She enjoyed her membership in the Garden Club of Somerset, and Chautauqua Circle; the oldest literary club in KY. She was also a Girl Scout leader for many, many years.
Frankie and Jack were known for their warm hospitality, entertaining their many friends over the years. Their house was always open to scouts and friends of their children as well.
Because of her unconditional love, her family loved to gather around her.
After they retired, Frankie and Jack traveled the world visiting many exotic locations, always returning to their beloved Lake Cumberland, which they enjoyed with family and friends.
Frankie lived a long and wonderful life with the love and support of her true love, Jack, for over seventy years.
The memories that she created with family and friends will live on in all of those whose lives she touched.
There will be a celebration of Frankie's life at the Goldenberg home at # 10 Hillandale Place, Somerset, Kentucky, 42501, on Tuesday, July first, from five pm to seven pm.
All friends of the family are invited to celebrate with us.
