Ethel Mae VanHook, age 79 of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Jean Waddle Care Center.
Ethel was born on March 4, 1935 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Herlen and Ada Higgenbotham Loveless.
She was a charter member of the Northside Baptist Church in Science Hill, Kentucky where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and pianist for many years. She worked at Peoples Bank of Science Hill, Lear Seigler and the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department and finally served as the Pulaski County Fiscal Court Financial Officer for 22 years.
She was currently a member of the Burnside Baptist Church, where she loved her ladies Sunday School class.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Mr. Louie Ray VanHook of Somerset, Kentucky; her two daughters, Peggy (and Billy) Dancy of Somerset, Kentucky and Debbie (and Tony) Stringer of Lexington, Kentucky; one grandson, Tyler Stringer (and Ashley Turner) of Lexington, Kentucky; a sister, Wanda (and Gerald) Dick of Science Hill, Kentucky; one niece, Stephanie Daffron of Somerset, Kentucky and her nephew, Stewart (and Jane) Dick of Russell Springs, Kentucky.
Funeral services for Ethel Mae VanHook will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Richard Christian officiating. Burial will follow in the Science Hill Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Ethel Mae VanHook will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Gideon memorial Bible Plan or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
