Mrs. Leona Faye Oakes

Leona Faye Oakes, daughter of the late Edgar and Leona Vanhooser Norfleet, was born in Pulaski County, KY on April 16, 1921 and she departed this life on Thursday, July 31, 2008 having attained the age of 87 years. She was united in marriage to Mr. Offey Oakes who preceded her in death. She is survived by: one son, Mr. Larry Norfleet of Louisville, KY; one sister, Norma Tarter of Nancy, KY, three grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of other relatives who mourn her passing. Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by; four brothers, Claude, Joe, Denton, and Verus Norfleet, and three sisters, Bee Watkins, Maudina Kingston, and Laura Cundiff. Leona was a kind person and she enjoyed babysitting. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2008 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Maxie Harper officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. The family of Mrs. Leona Faye Oakes will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. Saturday until time for services at 1:00 p.m. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of all funeral arrangements of Mrs. Leona Faye Oakes.
