Shirley Ann Shelton, 72, daughter of the late Raymond and Shirley Silvers, passed away to her eternal reward on Friday, August 1st 2008 at Baptist Northeast Hospital, Hosparus Inpatient Unit, LaGrange, KY.
Shirley fought a courageous fight. She kept her Faith and finished the race. Now, there is in store a crown for her faithfulness….
Shirley was born on August 9, 1935 in Somerset, KY. She graduated from Somerset High School and retired from General Bell Phone Company. Shirley was known as “Shine” to her family and close friends. She had an illuminating her presence. Her smile was radiant and her laugh contagious. In his award winning “Grandmother of the Year” school essay, Grandson Charley wrote, “Her smile goes from one side of her face to the other.”
Shirley loved and served her Lord, her family and friends. She had the special touch of making those around her feel special and loved. To know her was to love her, and those who knew her best, seemed to love her most. Shirley cherished her daily devotional time with her dear friend Lisa Chambers. She is a member of Southeast Christian Church.
She loved studying God’s Word, decorating, cooking, grandparenting, “garage sale-ing”, and making Christmas the most memorable celebration of every year.
We will miss her energetic, competitive spirit and enthusiasm for joyous living. Her patented homemade milkshakes, pies, pancakes, and biscuits and gravy were family favorites. Just ask the grandchildren or anyone who was ever a guest in her kitchen. She loved every sporting event in which her grandchildren were competing and she will be present in our thoughts at every game. “Shirley will always brighten our hearts with precious memories…we can only imagine her laughter and radiant smile illuminating heaven tonight.
Preceding her in death is her daughter Kathy Hall, three brothers George Lee Silvers, Eddie Silvers and Charlie Silvers and one sister, Betty Jane Spencer.
Shirley was the loving wife and soul mate of Windle L. Shelton. She also leaves a devoted son Doug Hall; a precious daughter-in-law Tina, and three beloved grandsons Charley (13), Colby (15) and Chase (18); brothers Joe Silvers (Mary) and Johnny Silvers; and sister-in-law Ann Silvers and several very special nieces and nephews , of Somerset, KY.
