Gertrude Rogers, 91, of Burlington, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, April 19. 2014 at Community Howard Regional Health. She was born in Poplarville, Kentucky on May 16, 1922 to the late Pete and Nancy Farmer Jones. She was united in marriage to her childhood sweetheart, Curtis Rogers in Goodwater,, KY on June 13, 1939 by Bert Whittaker. Curtis preceded her in death on April 23, 2002.
Gertrude was a homemaker and a member of the Poplarville Baptist Church, She enjoyed gardening, and Cooking. She was a meticulous housekeeper and devoted wife and mother. She loved her family very much.
Gertrude is survived by two sons, Gene (and Dorene) Rogers and Douglas C. Rogers both of Burlington, Indiana, one daughter, Carol Oakes of Kokomo, Indiana; two grandchildren, Michelle (and Darrell) Schiedel of Sheridan and Amanda Oakes of Kokomo; two brothers, James Helton and Bobby Jo Helton, both of Poplarville, KY and several nieces and nephews.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Fleece Helton; husband, Curtis Rogers; a daughter, Barbara Bacon; a grandson, Darrin Gene Rogers; two brothers, Clyde jones and Clinton Jones; and two sisters, Bonnie Bray and Althen Holman.
Gertrude was a kind lady who will be missed by all who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives who mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Rogers will be held, Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Meece officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodwater Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Gertrude Rogers will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014.
