Burniece Scott, daughter of the late Robert and Hattie Hodge Owens, was born on Friday, March 25, 1922 in Lancing, Tennessee and she departed this life on Saturday, March 1, 2014 having attained the age of 91 years, 11 months and 4 days.
She was united in marriage to Mr. John C. Scott on August 26, 1949. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include five children, Brenda (and Dana) Watkins of Somerset, Kentucky, Robert (and Larissa Thomas) Scott of Washington, Indiana, Barbara (and Dan) Gibson of Bronston, Kentucky, Laura Hardwick of Somerset, Kentucky and Clifford (and Charlene) Owens of Lebanon, Tennessee; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a special friend, Ed James of Somerset, Kentucky.
Other than her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by; one brother, J. B. Owens; one sister, Emma Cecil Berry; and one son-in-law, Ronnie Hardwick.
Burniece taught school in Lancing Tennessee and in Sunbright, Tennessee, she also worked for the Pulaski County Library doing Oral history interviews. She loved her church and her family very much and served as the Director of Clothing Ministry for the Pulaski Baptist Association for more than 30 years. She also enjoyed traveling with the Senior Group of the Buena Vista Baptist Church where she was a member.
She was a Shining example of the love of God and was a woman who walked the walk and shared her time and energy with friends, family and strangers alike, humbly giving of herself to all who were in need. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives, friends and church family who mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
The family of Mrs. Burniece E. Scott will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014.
