Mildred Pogue Shearer, daughter of the late Ambrose and Nellie Foster Pogue, was born in Monticello, KY on August 19, 1917 and she departed this life on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 having attained the age of 90 years.
She was united in marriage to Ralph M. Shearer on November 21, 1936 in Monticello, KY. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include; two sons, Max (and Arlene) Shearer and Martin (and Libby) Shearer both of Somerset, KY; one daughter, Gaynelle Baker of Lexington, KY; seven grandchildren, Lynn Shearer of Somerset, KY, Ralph Shearer of Durango, Colorado, Dick (and Tracie) Baker, Paul Martin (and Rhonda) Baker, Mark (and Shelley) Baker, and Tim Baker all of Lexington, KY, and Suzanne (and Josh) Coakley of Louisville, KY; ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Other than her parents, and husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Mildred was a homemaker, and a member of the Somerset First Baptist Church, where she was active as long as her health would permit. She was a kind lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives, friends and church family who mourn her passing and celebrate her homegoing.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Dr. French Harmon and Pastor Bill Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in the Somerset Cemetery.
The family of Mildred Pogue Shearer will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 07, 2008 until time for services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan, Hospice of Lake Cumberland, or the church building fund or charity of one’s choice.
