Mrs. Nellie F. Bogle-Gaines of Louisville, KY, formally of Somerset, KY passed away suddenly on October 20, 2013 in Louisville, KY. She was born on December 11, 1929 to Joseph A. and Addie Gunn Bogle.
Mom attended Dunbar Elementary School and Dunbar High School before pursuing a lifelong commitment in the medical field; first as a maid at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Louisville, KY and then as an x-ray tech at St. Joseph’s before relocating to Somerset to work at the old Somerset City Hospital, currently known as the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She devoted over 30 years to her profession before retiring in 1993 due to illness.
Mom accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the First Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W.B. Woods.
Nellie met and married William E. Gaines, Sr. on December 24th, 1963.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Addie Bogle, husband William E. Gaines, Sr., and siblings Deolia M, Joseph A., Orangealena, June, Mary Elizabeth, and John E.
She leaves to cherish the memories of her life, a sister, Mrs. Clementine Munday; children: Stanley K. Bogle, Susan D. Bogle, Raymond A. Gaines, and William E. Gaines, Jr.; four grandchildren: Nycole Barnes (Stevie), Kimberlee Reid (Russell), Tamara Bogle, and Alexzander Bogle; six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Pulaski Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Stanford-Pike Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Pulaski Funeral Home from 3:00-9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013.
