Marlene Meece

Mrs. Marlene Smiley Meece, daughter of the late George F. and Bessie Mounce Smiley, was born at White Lily, Kentucky on June 11, 1935 and she departed this life at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center on Monday, October 14, 2013 having attained the age of 78 years. She was united in marriage to Mr. Lowell Meece in Somerset, Kentucky on July 30, 1953, he survives. Other survivors include; three daughters, Leslie Diane Meece, Jennifer Kay Meece Harris, and Tracey Darlene (and Mitchell) Wesley all of Somerset, Kentucky; one grandson, Zachary Austin Wesley of Somerset, Kentucky and one sister, Betty Lou Stevens also of Somerset, Kentucky. Other than her parents, she was also preceded in death by; one brother, Dewey Smiley who died in infancy, and one sister, Peggy Guy. Marlene was a member of the Beacon Hill Baptist Church, at one point, she worked for the Guided Missile Division of Firestone In California, she was also a clerk for the Pulaski County Board of Education and later for the Ferguson Independent Board of Education. She has also worked as a designer at what was Louise Florist, she volunteered at the hospital, and she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, and spending time with her grandson. She was a kind lady who will be missed by her family and friends, she leaves a host of relatives, friends and church family who mourn her passing. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. The family of Mrs. Marlene Meece will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. on Thursday until time for services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of all arrangements for Mrs. Marlene Meece.
