Wanda Marie Sears Whitaker

Mrs. Wanda Marie Sears Whitaker, 88, of Somerset, Kentucky daughter of the late W.P. and Bertie Sears was born in Somerset, Kentucky on November 27, 1924 and departed this life on Tuesday, October8, 2013 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center with her daughter at her side. She was united in marriage to Louie Whitaker on May 1, 1943; he preceded her in death. Wanda is survived by one daughter; Linda Stringer of Somerset, Kentucky, two grandsons; Scott Hail, JB Whitaker, four granddaughters; Donna (Shane) Fox, Jessica Whitaker, Melissa (Eric) Gibson, Teresa (Tom) King and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son; Jesse Whitaker. Wanda was a member of the Barnesburg Baptist Church. She was a servant of her Lord and Savior. She was an avid gardener, loved spending time with her family and her ladies prayer group. She worked for 21 years at Palm Beach. The family request expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Austin Campel and Bro. Harold Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Sears Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Wanda Whitaker will receive friends on Saturday, October 12, 2013 after 11:00 a.m. until time for services at Pulaski Funeral Home.
