Gertrude Garland Stogsdill, daughter of the late Gerd and Sarah Adeline Wilson Garland, was born in Whitman County, Washington on June 01, 1927 and she departed this life in the presence of her family in the early hours of Sunday Morning, April 27th, 2008 having attained the age of 80 years.
She was united in marriage to Mr. Harold Lee Stogsdill, he preceded her in death. Survivors include; two sons, Tommy and Jeff Stogsdill of Somerset, Ky; two daughters, Sandra Butler of Science Hill, KY and Jennifer (and Mike) Phelps of Greyson, KY; three grandchildren, Chris (and Janet) Stogsdill of Somerset, KY, John Butler of Louisville, KY and Matthew Phelps of Trenton, Ohio; two great grandchildren, Mason and Jackson Stogsdill of Somerset, KY and one brother, Frank Garland of Centralia, Washington.
Other than her parents and husband,she was also preceded in death by; two brothers, Stewart and Boyd Garland; one sister, Willene Garland; one son-in-law, Allen E. Butler; and she was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Frances Marion Wilson and Ella Mae Cook Wilson who raised her as thier own.
Gertrude was a person who enjoyed life, when she was active, she was a sales clerk for the Fair Store for many years, she later worked for the General Electric Glass Plant for 10 years before retirement, she then returned to the Fair Store where she worked part time for several more years.
Gertrude was a kind and loving person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her, she leaves a host of relatives, and friends who mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Phelps officiating. Burial will follow in the McKinney Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Gertrude Stogsdill will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home.
