Zella Smith

March 4, 1918 — August 13, 2013

Mrs. Zella (Mize) Smith, age 95 of Somerset, Kentucky daughter of the late Robert F. and Mary (Phelps) Mize was born in Bent, Kentucky on March 4, 1918 and departed this life on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center. On June 28, 1936 Zella was united in marriage to her husband; Raymond Lee Smith who preceded her in death back in January 1973. She was also preceded in death by one son; Kenny Smith, another son; Charles Ray Smith and a daughter; Zellene Smith who both died at infancy, four sisters; Bessie Cross, Beulah Tarter, Louella Cundiff and Juanita Jones, two brothers and one grandson; William “Mickey” Smith Jr. Mrs. Smith is survived by three sons; William “Bill” (and Myron) Smith, Richard (and JoAnn) Smith and Gene (and Cathy) Smith all of Somerset, Kentucky, two sisters; Evelyn Wesley of Michigan and Betty Jo Gibson of Eubank, Kentucky, five grandchildren; Debbie Stigall, Brenda Bell, Ronda Ricks, Angela Evans and Nicole New, thirteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews who all mourn her passing. Mrs. Zella Smith was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and was a homemaker who loved taking care of her grandchildren and gardening. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Phelps officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Zella Smith will receive friends on Thursday, August 15, 2013 after 2:00 p.m. until time for services at Pulaski Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of all arrangements for Mrs. Zella (Mize) Smith.
