Thelma Jean Smith age 82, of the Keno community, daughter of the late Milton Aurther and Martha Sandlin Gibson was born on April 29, 1931 in Chavis, Kentucky and departed this life on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; Stanley Edward Smith, two sons; Larry Gene Smith and Ronnie E. Smith, four brothers; Russell, Johnny, Clifford and Elmer Gibson, two sisters; Delvre Flynn and Mary Donavan.
Mrs. Smith is survived by five sons; Elmer Paul Smith, David Wayne (Stephanie) Smith, Gregory Lee (Joan) Smith, Kenneth E. (Locanda) Smith, Kevin E. (Barbara) Smith all of Keno, two daughters; Bambi Lynn (Johnnie) Rutherford of Keno and Mary Kathleen (Justin) Belcher of Eubank, Kentucky. three sister-in-laws; Phyllis Gibson, Eliane Gibson and Ilse Gibson. Also surviving is six grandchildren; Celena Smith, Candice Dalton, Bobbie Jean Coggins, Patricia Jean Smith, Misty Gleason, Monica Gleason and two great-grandsons; James Gleason, Josh Gleason and host of nieces and nephews who all mourn his passing.
Thelma was a homemaker and attended Mt. Union Baptist Church, lifetime Gold Star Mother member of Rockwood American Legion post #50. She loved to oil paint, fish and was the anchor of the family who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Perry Dobbs officiating. Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.
The family of Mrs. Thelma Jean Smith will receive friends on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 after 6:00 p.m. at the Pulaski Funeral Home.
