Minnie Katherine Dick Girdler, daughter of the late Richard and Martha Ellen Davis Dick, was born on Thursday, November 3, 1932, and she departed this life in Somerset, Kentucky on Saturday, June 22, 2013 having attained the age of 80 years, 7 months and 19 days.
She was united in marriage to Mr. Roy Arvis Franklin Girdler and they have enjoyed this union for more than 62 years. He survives. Other survivors include; three sons, Frankie (and Sherry) Girdler, Rick (and Sara) Girdler, and Jeff Girdler.; 5 grandchildren, Brandon (and Lindsey) Girdler, Chris (and Courtney) Girdler, Kelly (and Levi) Barnes, Francesca Girdler (and Tim) Micek, Megan Girdler (and Jason) Weatherford; 5 great grandchildren, Charleston Girdler, Brady, Sophie and Kate Barnes and Farrah Micek; 1 brother-in-law, Alger Beasley; 1 sister-in-law, Lula Dick; two step-sisters, Dorothy West Calhoun, and Zena Bea Dunsmore and a vast host of other relatives and friends and church family who both mourn her passing and celebrate her homegoing.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Ada Dick; one brother, who died in infancy; the following siblings and their spouses, Marion (and Artie) Dick, Elizabeth Dick Beasley, Walter B. Dick, Sarah Dick (Clyde Godby) and Harold Roberts; Lou Ellen Dick (and Wilbur) Thompson, and Roscoe Dick.
Minnie was a faithful member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the church choir, she was also loved by many children, who she helped raise through the years as their child care giver. She was a wonderful Christian lady who will by missed by all who knew her.
The family of Mrs. Minnie Girdler would like to take this opportunity to convey their appreciation to a couple of ladies who were very special caregivers; they are Jewell Sumner and Margaret Newton. The family would also like to publicly thank Hospice of Lake Cumberland, and the management and wonderful staff of Somerset Nursing and Rehabilitation for their kind care during Minnie’s stay there.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to request expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Hines and Bro. C. E. Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
