Mrs. Laura Opal Baker, daughter of the late Robert and Thelma Vaught Meece, was born on Monday, December 21, 1925 in Somerset, Kentucky and she departed this life on Friday, June 14, 2013 in Somerset, Kentucky having attained the age of 87 years.
She was united in marriage to Mr. Ira Baker on March 30, 1946, he preceded her in death.
Survivors include; two sons, Kenneth (and Connie) Baker, and Bill (and Janet) Baker; four grandchildren, Jason, Robbie, Steven and Michael Baker; two great grandchildren, Hunter and Logan Baker; and one brother, William “Bud” (and Judy) Meece, and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
Other than her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by; three sisters, Hazel Simpson, Lena New, and Clara New.
She was a member of the Langdon Street Baptist Church, The Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.), Somerset Chapter # 23 Order of the Eastern Star (O.E.S.) and the Caney Fork Homemakers Club. She was a kind lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2013 at the chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Laura Opal Baker will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home form 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2013, and from 9:00 a.m. Monday until after services.
