Eyvind Burkett

Mr. Eyvind Burkett, age 88 of Somerset, Kentucky, son of the late Henry and Lillie (Bland) Burkett was born on October 18, 1924 and departed this life on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Other than his parents Mr. Burkett was preceded in death by his loving wife Lillian Burkett, brother: Jerry Burkett, 4 sisters: Imogene Burkett, Geneve Mink, Oneida Whitaker and Alodine Bland, father-in-law: Cyrus Vaught, 4 brother-in-laws: Dan Boyer, Don Whitaker, Delrue Bland and Wilson Mink. Eyvind is survived by 2 sons: Darren (and Sarah) Burkett, Gary Barber (and Sharon Turner) of Acorn, Kentucky, brothers: William A. Burkett of Somerset, James(and Patsy) Burkett of Somerset, sister: Irene Boyer of Somerset, granddaughters: Carrie Barber, Samantha Barber, Jessica(and Tony) Stringer all of Somerset, great grandsons: Austin Stringer and Logan Stringer, great-granddaughters: Courtney Stringer and Emma Rylee Jo Barber and several nieces and nephews who all mourn her passing. Eyvind was a loving family man who enjoyed baseball, reading, coin collecting, gardening and wood working,. Upon completing his military service in WWII he became employed at Somerset Stone Company where he retired after 42 years of employment. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery. The family of Mr. Eyvind Burkett will receive friends on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 after 6:00 p.m. at Pulaski Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Eyvind Burkett Memorial Fund C/O Pulaski Funeral Home.
