Roxie May Lyons, age 88, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away on March 15, 2013 at her daughters residence.
She was born on May 26, 1924 in Nancy, Kentucky, the daughter of the Late William Walker and Julie Burkett Bland.
She was united in marriage to Mr. Henry Lyons, he preceded her in death. Other than her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by; one son, Ralph Paul Lyons; six brothers, Willie, Avert, Albert, Delrue, Norman and Harry Bland; and two sisters, Versie Watson and Wilmerth Henderson.
Survivors include; three sons, Gary (and Sarah) Lyons of Somerset, KY, Bobby (and Dianna) Lyons of Science Hill, Kentucky and Darrell (and Debby) Lyons of Somerset, Kentucky and one daughter, Debbie Lyons of Somerset, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Richard Scott Lyons, Melody Haynes, Jeremy Lyons, Joseph Lyons, Eric Carter, Jessica Brainard, and 14 great grandchildren.
She was a charter member of the Ringgold Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She always took great pride in her children. She enjoyed sunny days on her porch swing and she also loved, and was very accomplished at quilting.. She provided quilts for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She devoted her entire life to providing for her husband and children. She worked very hard at canning food and working in the fields. She was always the lighthouse for the family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. David Bullock officiating. Burial will follow in the Grays Chapel Cemetery at Nancy, KY.
The family of Mrs. Roxie Mae Lyons will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home after 6:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013.
