Mrs. Verna Christine (Hansford) Chumbley, age 86 of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. She was born on July 23, 1926, daughter of the late Charlie and Cloa Sears Hansford.
She was united in marriage to Mr. Leonard Lee Chumbley, he preceded her in death. Survivors include; one brother, J.W. (and Rheagenia) Hansford; her children, Jimmy (and Sherri) Chumbley, Mike (and Barbara) Chumbley, Alice (and J.R.) Jackson , and daughter, Mable Lois Ussery; also surviving are; nine grandchildren, Lisa (and Joey) Ray, Chris (and Mandi) Jones, Jimmie Jackson II, Jon Paul (and Jackie) Hyche, Bobby (and Tina) Ussery, Courtney Chumbley, Brianne (and Chase) White, Sammi Jo Chumbley and Eric Chumbley and she delighted in spending time with her 10 great grandchildren, Dakota Muncie, Lindsay Jackson, Halle Jones, Hunter Jones, Randi Hyche, Hayden Hyche, John Daniel Hyche, Paul Jacob Hyche, Christina Ussery and Matthew Ussery.
Verna was a lifelong member of the Fellowship Methodist Church. She was a dedicated christian woman who was devoted to her church and her family. Verna was to co-owner of Somerset Auto Auction for over thirty years, and was a very prominent businesswoman in the area.
Funeral services will be held at the Fellowship Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 with Rev. David Altizer officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Verna Christine Chumbley will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home on Thursday, February 28, 2013 after 6:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. Friday March 1, 2013 at the church until time for services.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, or the Fellowship Methodist Church.
