Mr. Yancey L. Lewis, son of the late Henry C. Lewis and Ollie Cornett Lewis, of Somerset, Kentucky departed this life on Saturday, February 22, 2013. He was born November 5, 1921 in Leslie County, Kentucky having attained the age of ninety- one years.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Jean Prather Lewis, who he married on June 6, 1946 in Ohio. With the uniting of his marriage, three children survive; Brenda Ann Lewis (and David) Patterson, Jeffery P. (and Lisa) Lewis and Yancey “Boonie” L. Lewis, Jr.; six grandchildren, Dr. Chad (and Jennifer) Patterson, Kory (and Aimee) Patterson, Keith (and Krystal) Patterson, Jordan Lewis, Ashlee Lewis, Yancey J. Lewis, and three step-granddaughters; Three great grandchildren, Ariana Lewis, Kadence and Kyndal Patterson.
Other than his parents and one infant daughter, Mr. Lewis was also preceded in death by three sisters; Susan Hart, Juanita Dick and Alca O’Calligan and four brothers, Ward, Cam, John and Banca Lewis.
Mr. Lewis and a retired self-employed logger. He loved fishing, hunting, and making knives. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Ringgold Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Mr. Yancey L. Lewis will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. James E. Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery.
The family of Mr. Yancey L. Lewis will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning until time for services.
