Hansford Murphy

Mr. Hansford Murphy, age 91 of Somerset, Kentucky son of the late Lurinda (Stephens) and Calvin Finley Murphy was born on January 31, 1922 in McCreary County, Kentucky and departed this life on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Other than his parents Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by 18 brothers and sisters. Hansford is survived by his loving wife Edith (Creekmore) Murphy whom he married in Toledo, Ohio in 1948. They spent 64 happy and devoted years together. Also he is survived by a nephew: Ralph Murphy who was raised as a brother and many nieces and nephews who were very dear to him.. Hansford joined Emmanuel Baptist Church in Michigan in 1953 and lived a dedicated Christian life after working 32 years at Chrysler, he retired and moved to Somerset where he is a member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church. He has a lifetime membership in both the Masons and Shriners. Hansford also was a World War II Veteran with the United States Army and was loved by all and will be greatly missed. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 25, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Massey officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. The family of Mr. Hanford Murphy will receive friends after 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Pulaski Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers family request expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of all arrangements for Mr. Hansford Murphy.
