Mrs. Edith Pauline Harris Stogsdill, age 83 a resident of Somerwoods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and formerly of Cannonball Road, Somerset, was born April 20, 1929 , the daughter of James and Ada Ethel Whitis Harris. She departed this life on January 31, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Lynn (and Sharon Stogsdill of Somerset, KY and Jerald Lee (and Emmie Stogsdill of Mt. Vernon, KY; five daughters, Connie Sue (Terry) Lay of Hanover, IN, Mary Lou (Clint) Ridener of Ferguson, Kentucky, Brenda Faye (Jerry) Miller of Hanover, IN, Sandra Kay Stogsdill of Somerset, KY and Judy May(Douglas) Ridner of Somerset; one daughter-in-law, Margaret Elaine Stogsdill of Somerset, KY; one brother, Joel (Sandra) Harris of Somerset, KY; two sister, Maxine Whitaker and Devonna (Junior) Burdine of Somerset, KY; twenty grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Mr. Herman Stogsdill, whom she married on April 6, 1946 in Somerset, KY; two sons, Herman Mitchell and Charles Morris Stogsdill; a grandson, Clayton Stogsdill; a great grandson, Josiah Miller; a son-in-law, William R. Wolfe III; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Cook Stogsdill; two brothers, Charlie and Robert Harris; and three sisters, Avanell Lawson, Donna Whitaker, and Gaye Harris.
Mrs. Stogsdill was a loving mother, grandmother, great -grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially the little ones, and looked forward to their visits to Somerwoods.
Mrs. Stogsdill leaves behind a host of family and friends who mourn her passing, but rejoice with her in knowing that she is reunited with her husband, whom she loved and missed so dearly, and that she has seen the face of her savior.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at the Pine Thicket Cemetery.
