Mrs. Lena (Girdler) McPheron, age 96 of Somerset, Kentucky, daughter of the late Coatney (Wilson) and Jackson Girdler was born on December 16, 1916 in Somerset and departed this life on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in the presence of her family.
She was united in marriage to Mr. Lawrence E. McPheron, he preceded her in death
Other than her husband, and parents, Lena was also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Henry and Edward Girdler and 3 sisters: Lucy Girdler, Nora Neikirk and Oma Pence.
Mrs. McPheron is survived by 4 daughters: Orvetta (and Billy) Wilson, Ann (and Charles) Hall, Patty (and Jerry) Maybrier and Lana McPheron all of Somerset, Kentucky; 6 grandchildren, Andrea (and Kevin) Gregory of Gallatin, Tennessee, Lori Ann Hall, Steve (and Elaine) Hall, Wayne (and Dianna) Maybrier, Cindy (and Tyler) Jasper, Brad (and Rhonda) Hewitt all of Somerset, Kentucky, 8 great-grandchildren: Lindsey and Audrey Jasper, Alex and Chloe Gregory, Jackson Hall, Braxton Hewitt, Jason Wesley and Tyler Ard. Lena is also survived by 1 sister: Nina Blevins of Somerset, Kentucky, 2 brothers: Roy Girdler of Somerset, Kentucky and Brent Girdler of Yorktown, Indiana. Lena also leaves behind sister-in laws: Mildred Girdler and Marie Girdler, and brother-in-laws: Ralph (and Maxine) McPheron and Sam Frei and numerous nieces and nephews who all mourn her passing.
Lena was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School until she was unable to attend.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Hines and Bro. Marty Shadoan officiating. Burial will follow in the Somerset Cemetery.
The family of Lena McPheron will receive friends on Thursday, January 31, 2013 after 5:00 p.m. at Pulaski Funeral Home.
