Haskel Brake

February 19, 1931 — January 20, 2013

.Mr. Haskel Brake, son of the late Porter Brake, Sr. and Elsie Cole Brake, was born on February 19, 1931 and he departed this life on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the V. A. Hospital in Lexington, KY having attained the age of 81 years. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Emma Guffey Brake, she survives. Other survivors include; three sons, Gerald (and Betsy) Brake of Burnside, KY, Billy (and Vicki) Brake of Eubank, KY and Donnie Brake of Burnside, KY; one brother, Bobby (and Anita) Brake of Monticello, KY.; and six grandchildren, Matthew Brake, Jeremiah Brake, Justin (and Tosha) Brake, Jason Brake, Kaylee Brake and Kaydence Hatfield. Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by; one daughter, Rebecca Ann Brake; five brothers, Elza, Ellis, Howard, Harold, and Junior Brake; and six sisters, Zelma Brake, Effie Brake, Alice Abbott, Vela Upchurch, Dorothy Neal and Ruth Morris. Haskel was a member of the Grave Hill Baptist Church, a Sergeant First Class veteran of the United States Army FABN C Battery unit with in the Korean conflict regime 1951-1952, also served in the Monticello 623 Honor Guard, a 40 year member of the Burnside Masonic Lodge #634 F & AM, 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason through the Valley of Lexington, a charter member of the Lake Cumberland Scottish Rite Club, a charter member of Point Isabel Eastern Star Chapter # 582, a life member of the Monticello D.A.V., the former fire chief of Burnside Fire Department, one of the founders and first fire chief of the Tateville Volunteer Fire Department, he was also a Kentucky Colonel, a Pulaski County Colonel, a Somerset Colonel and a Pulaski County “Good Ole Boy“. Haskel was a kind person who will be missed. He leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn his passing. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Eugene Dick officiating. Burial will follow in the Burnside Cemetery. Military honors for Mr. Brake will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 38. The family of Mr. Haskel Brake will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home after 5:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013. Masonic services will be observed at 7:00 p.m. Thursday Evening at the Pulaski Funeral Home by Burnside Lodge # 634 F & AM. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Haskel Brake Memorial Fund. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of all arrangements for Mr. Haskel Brake.
