Elsie Marie Phelps

Mrs. Elsie Phelps, daughter of the late James and Dolly Isabelle Freeman Hall, was born on September 22, 1927 in Burnside, KY, and she departed this life in the presence of her family on February 7, 2008 having attained the age of 80 years. She was a loving mother of twelve, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was active in Pulaski Day Services, she was a member of the Lake Cumberland Writer's League and was a published poet. She also enjoyed her bible and the publication Guideposts, both of which she read daily. She is survived by four sons, James Irvin Phelps, Jr. of Hindman, KY, Gary Nolan Phelps, Alden Ray Phelps, Jonathan (and Kathy) Phelps all of Somerset, KY, a son-in-law, Randall Allen of London, KY; seven daughters, Linda Marie Phelps, Jennifer (and Gary) Taylor, Debbie (and Donnie) Todd, Darlene (and Kendall) Murphy all of Somerset, KY. Sherri (and Paul) Bubnick of Science Hill, KY, Pam(and Mike) Burdine, Somerset, KY, and Barbara (and Tony) DePrato of Ferguson, KY; three brothers, William Everett Hall of Williamstown, KY, Vola (and Louise) Hall of White Lily, KY and Gerald David (and Margaret) Hall of Ferguson, KY; four sisters, Freeda Murphy of Ferguson, KY, Juanita Sumpter of Frankfort, KY, Della (and Joe) Stutler of Cincinnati, OH and Gayle (and Clinton) Hale of Wallahalla, South Carolina; nine grandchildren, Angela (and Jeff) Coots, Donnie Todd Jr., Misty (and Justin) Adkins, Crystal (and David) Baker, Daniel Todd, Bryant Dungan, Michael (and Suzie) Burdine, Robbie Dungan, Matthew Burdine; two step-grandchildren, Anthony W. DePrato II, and J.D. DePrato. and eight great grandchildren, Kirstin Turner, Ezekiel Turner, Isaiah Baker, Elijah Adkins, Jaylee Baker, Brylee Burdine, Josh Coots and Brittany Chaney. She has many nieces, nephews, and friends who mourn her passing. Other than Elsie's parents and her husband, James Irvin Phelps, she was also preceded in death by one brother, James Robert Hall, one sister, Thelma Smith, a daughter, Judy Elaine Allen, and a granddaughter, Melissa Janette Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2008 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Lowell Gossett officiating. Burial will follow in the Somerset Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Elsie Phelps will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2008. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Pulaski Day Services, R-Tec transportation services or Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be asked by the family of Elsie Phelps to be in charge of all funeral arrangements.
