Ralph Odell Abbott

Ralph Odell Abbott, 86 of the Sloans Valley community passed away on November 10, 2012 approximately 10:00 pm. He was born in Wayne County, the son of William (Willie) and Vianna Criswell Abbott on February 28, 1926. He was a veteran of World War 2 serving in the South Pacific with the U.S. Navy Seabees. He is a proud member of the American Legion Stearns Post 115. He, along with his son, was involved with the Tateville Volunteer Fire Department in its early days and was a 65 year member of the Masonic Lodge at Monticello Lodge No. 431. He was bus and truck driver for most of his life eventually retiring from Hinkle Contracting Corporation. Later he owned his own truck and many remember him for delivering loads of soil and gravel throughout Pulaski and surrounding counties. He is survived by Hazel Wade Abbott, his wife of 50 years and one son, Wade Abbott of Lexington, Kentucky. He is also survived by twin brothers Robert (Stella) and Roy (Christine) Abbott of Monticello, KY, one sister Myrtie (Hoyt deceased)Parsley of Campbellsville, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services For Mr. Ralph Odell Abbott will be Wednesday November 14, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Perry Dobbs officiating , burial will follow in mill Springs National Cemetery at Nancy , KY with Military Honors by American legion Post # 38 Honor Guard. The Family of Mr. Ralph Odell Abbott will receive friends at Pulaski Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until time for services. The family request donations to the Wounded Warrior Project. Pulaski Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements for Ralph Odell Abbott.
